Some background: This album is a breaknoise tribute to Hungarian orchestral pieces. This particular song was originally released as an orchestral piece that was so powerfully depressive that many Hungarians chose to commit suicide while listening to this song. So many people killed themselves to this song, that it was banned in Hungary. It’s also commonly known as the “Hungarian Suicide Song.” Billie Holiday was so moved by the song that she covered it, adding lyrics. Those are the lyrics heard in this song. (Her version is called “Gloomy Sunday”). The lyrics were so depressive for the time of release that her music managers required that she add in a happy ending. That is the epic history of this song.
